The beautiful facility of Bel Air Assisted Living, before the 2013 renovations. Located in Greater Baltimore, Maryland, just minutes from Towson, Pikesville, and Downtown off I-95, I-695, and Rt. 1.Choosing a facility for senior living in Maryland is a major decision. There are many factors you need to consider if you’re making this choice. Taking the time to evaluate all of these before choosing a specific luxury senior living facility can help you ensure that you live where you’ll be most comfortable.

1. Accommodation Styles

The luxury senior living you choose should feel like home. Bel Air Assisted Living has private suites that include a full bathroom. Laundry services and daily light suite tidying are all provided. Weekly cleaning includes dusting, vacuuming and disinfecting. The accommodations here feel like home with in-suite private phones and cable television.

2. Activities and Social Calendar

An important aspect of living at an assisted living facility is being able to remain active. Most assisted living facilities offer activities that residents can do at their leisure. Oftentimes, this includes things like playing board games, watching movies or reading books. Some also have things that residents can do with family members when they visit.

Bel Air Assisted Living provides activities for residents seven days a week. There’s a monthly activity theme to help residents get engaged in the activities. These activities include arts and crafts, spiritual services, music appreciation, a morning news briefing, Bingo and watching local sports teams like the Baltimore Ravens and the Orioles.  We welcome families to holiday events and movie matinees on the weekends.

Our activities staff keeps track of the favorite pastimes of each resident, and makes sure that everyone will be able to do things they specifically like.  This is just one of the many ways Bel Air Assisted Living creates a personalized experience for  our residents.   All of these activities are part of the vast social calendar that enables residents to fully enjoy their time.

At Bel Air Assisted Living, we know that staying in contact with family members is important, so residents can enjoy visits from their family members around the clock. We also encourage residents to spend time away from the facility with their loved ones, and invite family members to come join their loved ones for meals when they can.  When family members can’t come in person to visit, we are happy to help connect them with residents through video and audio calls.

3. Types of Services Available

As people age, their needs may change. Choosing an assisted living in Maryland that can transition through some of these changes with them is beneficial since the resident will already be familiar with the facility. Bel Air Assisted Living offers more than just basic assisted living accommodations. Respite stays, hospice care, independent living and memory care services are all found right here in the facility.

The caregivers here understand that providing loving care is a top priority. Our facility boasts nearly three times as many caregivers per resident as other facilities in the Greater Baltimore area. That means that residents will have their needs met quickly, rather than having to wait.  We’re privately owned and operated, so there’s a high level of accountability for all staff members.  Families and residents appreciate getting to know our staff personally, and the amount of direct access families have to our leadership team, so that needs can be addressed.

Residents at Bel Air Assisted Living are treated like valued family members here. The care each person receives is tailored to their individual needs. Since we’re privately owned, we can make decisions based on residents’ needs instead of having to focus on arbitrary policies that don’t put people first. Our staff members put their vast experience to work for each resident.

4. Amenities Offered

The amenities that a luxury senior living facility offers can make a big difference. Our single-story building allows residents to move easily from their rooms to meals and activities, without going on elevators or down long hallways.  On-site services include manicures, pedicures and hairstyling.

Residents enjoy three home-cooked meals per day, all of which are prepared by a personal chef. Our chef knows each resident’s favorite meals, and makes sure they are regularly on the menu.  Residents who don’t care for what’s on the menu can request something else. All residents are highly encouraged to eat in the dining room, which makes it easier for them to socialize and for staff members to track what they’re eating and drinking. Residents can also enjoy beverages and snacks that are always available.  We don’t rush residents out of bed for breakfast–we strive to accommodate each resident’s preference and schedule.

Medical care is also a priority here. In-house primary care visits, on-site physical therapy and rehabilitation services, medication management and similar services are provided to residents. Special services, such a mobile X-ray service, are also possible. Residents and family members work closely with a care team to ensure they’re getting the care they need.

Our manager communicates regularly with families, and family members receive a ‘report card’ each week with updates on their loved one, summarizing their medical and social status.
