Respite Stay: Temporary Living For Seniors

Sometimes called a “short break,” Respite Stay is a way for your loved one to live at Bel Air Assisted Living for a brief period — ranging from a few days to a few months. Respite Stay is often chosen as a temporary “bridge” between where your loved one is living now and where they are planning to live. Every family has a unique reason why they are utilizing Respite Stay, but here are a few common ones:

Post-Hospital Visit

It is increasingly common for hospitals in Harford County, Greater Baltimore, and Maryland to discharge senior citizens quickly. Bel Air Assisted Living can serve as an intermediary rehabilitation facility, giving your loved one the transition time he or she needs to fully recuperate. We provide on-site physical and occupational therapy, visits from our staff physician, and encouragement throughout the healing process.

Time needed to plan

For many families, deciding how to care for a loved one is a challenge. While your family makes a plan, your loved one requires a temporary residence. Bel Air Assisted Living is well-suited to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

Unforeseen circumstances

Unplanned or unforeseen circumstances may arise in your family’s personal or professional lives, which necessitate moving your loved one for a short period of time.

You want to try our facility

Your family wants to try out Bel Air Assisted Living, before committing to move here. Respite Stay lets you take our facility for a “test drive” before signing an Assisted Living, Independent Living, or Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care agreement.

You need a break

Attending to elderly relatives is physically and emotionally exhausting. You may feel like you need some time off.

Work relocation

If you work for a large corporation or the United States Government, you may be reassigned to a new location. Whether you are leaving Maryland or coming here, we can provide a temporary living quarters while a permanent residence is prepared.

Waiting for a new caretaker

Your family is hiring a new in-home caretaker for your loved one. However, the new caretaker cannot start for several weeks. Our staff can care for your loved one in the interim.

Taking a vacation

Your family is taking a personal, or business, vacation. Temporary care is required while no one is at home to attend to your loved one.

Full service luxury treatment at our state-of-the-art facility is available to all Respite Stay residents. The Respite Stay package includes all of our white glove amenities: a fully furnished private suite, private bath, emergency call system, housekeeping, dry cleaning, laundry, linen service, and 24/7 monitored care from our staff of assistants, nurses, medical technicians, and doctors.
